Propane Safety
At Fayetteville Propane, your safety comes first. Propane is a clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly fuel, but like any energy source, it must be handled properly. Our team follows established safety standards during every delivery, inspection, and service call to help ensure safe and reliable propane use.
Our commitment to safety doesn’t end once your tank is filled. Understanding how to use propane correctly is an important part of protecting your family, employees, and property. The information below is meant to help you use propane confidently and safely.
We encourage you to review these guidelines and share them with everyone in your home or workplace. While propane emergencies are uncommon, being prepared makes a difference. If you ever have questions or concerns about your propane system, Fayetteville Propane is always here to help.
What to Do If You Smell Gas
Propane has a strong, unpleasant smell similar to rotten eggs—this odor is added to help you detect leaks.
If you suspect a gas leak:
Extinguish all flames and sparks
Leave the area immediately. Don’t try to locate the leak yourself.
Avoid all ignition sources. Don’t flip light switches, use your phone, or start your car near the area.
Shut off the gas supply at the tank, but only if it is safe to do so.
Call 911 or Fayetteville Propane from a safe distance.
Do not return to the building or area until it has been inspected and cleared by a professional.
Even a small leak can pose a serious hazard. Never ignore the smell of gas.
